Freeware: Completely free software! After downloading it, it's yours.
Shareware: Free to download, but only for evaluation. If you like it, and want to keep it, you have to buy it. Using shareware after the evaluation period is over is just like shoplifting at Wal-Mart. You'll fry.
Demo or Demoware: Free, but crippled. Often lacks many of the features of the real program. Many games are offered as demos.

a free Notepad replacement ...a very nice one, too. I've tried a few Notepad replacements, but this one is actually better. It's a fantastic html editor. Definitely worth 1.1 megabytes.
